What must I do to get saved?

Getting a saving knowledge of Jesus.
Getting saved (or finding salvation) is an act of the Holy Spirit.

It is not enough to simply accumulate knowledge about God. This knowledge has got to move past your head to your heart, this is "saving knowledge" or getting salvation

It starts when you feel a discomfort about your present condition of sin, your fear of mortality, or death, your quest for peace or whatever inner discomfort you feel  and it drives you to search for God. This search may initially be relaxed but eventually it will burn in your heart (hence you will for example search online and find this website ) BUT eventually the conviction of the LORD over your situation will drive you to the point where you ask the question: "what must I do to get saved?"

This is the question a man who had only recently finished beating (physically whipping) some 2 men (for their faith in God) eventually asked them. You can read the full story in a book of the bible. Acts 16: 16-34.

Decision for you (as I did)
While getting saved is indeed the work of the LORD as, no one can come to him except he draws them in - you have a decision (this is the beauty of free will).  This decision involves you choosing to give up your life in exchange for God's life breath.

I too had to take that LEAP of FAITH. In fact I took that step in late March 2017 when Jesus turned my hedonistic life into a life of service. I went from being a "player" and a "party animal" - code words for a life of evil to a servant of Christ. You can read or watch my testimony.

The actual act of getting saved or becoming a christian is a simple child like act of faith:

1. You confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and that he ALONE can forgive all your sins.

2. You ask Him to become your LORD and GOD.  You can pray a prayer as simple as this: "God of heaven, I confess that I am a sinner and have been one since birth, but I have heard that you can make me new, and you sent your son Jesus who can give me a new Spirit. Please forgive me and welcome me into your Kingdom, teach me how to follow you. In Jesus' name, Amen"
3. You publicly declare your faith through getting baptised.
4. You then start living a life of faith as a christian. This starts with reading the bible, praying and finding a church/christian community to help. Don't worry, God the Holy Spirit who started the work, also gets to finish it. He says: "I am with you until the end of time".

I have become a christian, now what?
