God is pretty serious about this obedience stuff. In a sad incident in the bible, the first King of Israel is rejected as King for disbobeying God in a matter. Disobedience was compared to witchcraft (divination):
“To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry."
